A Community-based Volunteer Hospice Organization

In a busy world, there are those who care...

The Pilgrim Project (often referred to as 'Pilgrim') is a free Montreal community Hospice Program, operating out of the Montreal suburb of Dorval, providing free service to the whole Island of Montreal (within the limitations of its volunteer personnel).

Training Program: The 'Pilgrim Training' link on the toolbar above takes you to the Training Page and the Class Notes.

Identity: Pilgrim operates in English and French. Dr. Brendan Cavanaugh founded it 1976 and in 1978 it was formally registered as a Quebec non-profit organization. Its goal is to respond to the personal emotive (psychosocial) needs of individuals living on the island of Montreal who are facing the challenge of life-threatening illness and who are living at home. The means it uses to achieve this goal are:training for community members to be volunteers, supervised home visitors, short term bereavement programs, and long term grief support. It also provides volunteer support for chronically ill children and their families. More on purpose or contact us.

Volunteers: We are always looking for volunteers. Find out more...

General and Service Information: For patient referral or detailed information call: (514) 633-9315 and leave your telephone number.

Fees: There are none. The service of The Pilgrim Project is free; it's operation is funded through a grant from Centraide (Montreal). Donations are welcome.

Email: The email address is info@pilgrimproject.ca.

The Meaning of the Logo: The image of The Pilgrim and its background is a woodcut illustration for an edition of The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyon (1628-88) of the village Elstow in England. [MORE]
